About ADESA
The African Data Engineering and Science Association (ADESA) is a pan-African association for data science, data engineering, information and cyber-security, and specialist analytics professionals. ADESA is registered as a non-profit organisation, with chapters and active communities across Africa.
ADESA’s objectives are to disseminate knowledge, share expertise, and provide a forum for members to discuss their experiences implementing data-related initiatives and projects across Africa and globally. ADESA additionally provides education, certification, and training to assist members with their career progression in the data science and engineering professions.
Membership of ADESA provides access to a wide range of opportunities through its network of professionals across the continent, as well as the broadening and deepening of expertise. ADESA membership helps members stay up to date with the latest trends and professional standards in data science, data engineering, and cyber-security.

ADESA Strategic Plan
ADESA operates under a five-year strategic plan focused on four pillars:
- Community Building — Establishing active chapters in every African country and building a connected network of practitioners.
- Education & Certification — Developing Africa-relevant professional certifications and partnering with universities across the continent.
- Research & Publications — Funding and publishing African-led data science research addressing local and continental challenges.
- Policy & Advocacy — Engaging governments and international bodies to promote sound data governance and digital policy frameworks.
